Karen brings up a lot of interesting points. I recently worked on a project called the de100c Digital Entertainment Center which manages your digital music collection. We have some young engineers in their 20's who had never used a vinyl record. I brought one in for them to marvel at and then we played it for them. They were awestruck that you could have a needle running on plastic that reproduced sound as well as it did . I'm not sure what their reaction would have been to the 8-track. How the 8-track ever gained any momentum is completely beyond me. But I had one, just like everyone else in the '70's.

Incidentally, I noticed the 'posted by' field is coming up blank. I'll look into this, but if you go the editing screen at www.blogger.com, the names are present so I can only imagine that it's some kind of temporary problem with their software. I just posted the entire memory book from the 1988 reunion. Don't forget to check out the new feature on the website called 'What's New'. - Lee Devlin
