Hello all,

I just had a chance to look at the weblog (it has been a long time). It is refreshing to see a good political debate. I know the election is over but I just want to make a comment or two( I am woman, what can I say!). As a recent convert to the Republican party, I do understand those who are against the war in Iraq. Believe me, I hate war also. In my job, I see reservists called up every day and I pray for them. But as a Catholic, not a Kerry Catholic, I have to look at the sacredness of life. Also, I agree with whoever said, you can't blame a President for lack of jobs. We sometimes forget that the damage of 9/11 will take years to repair.

I also feel that whether you voted for him or not, we need to support our President in the fight to protect our freedom and our childrens freedom.

Well on a much less serious note, as you may know, I am the proud grandmother of 22 month old Ian Stephan Bernd Edler von Lerch (that's right, if he can spell it, he gets to 1st grade!) Being a grandmother is the best!

Keep talking folks

Mary (Pappas) Kosin

Homer,
I hope that everything goes well with your Dad. I'll put him on the prayer network at my church.

I was voting FOR Kerry. I just liked his stand on most issues (not ALL of the issues). I won't let just one issue determine the overall picture. I just think we needed a change. I don't see us going anywhere in a forward direction in the next four years, and I pray to God that I'm wrong. I certainly hope that I am..... But like I stated, George Bush is our president whether we voted for him or not, and we need to stand behind him as one unified America.

Howdy all, It's been a while since I've logged in. It's great to see that you still have some conversations going on. All has been well. Hope all has been well with you too. I'm sure I'll eventually have something to talk about - it certainly won't be politics....

Lines for voting in PA are huge -- Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) projects an 80% turnout.

I have enjoyed reading the comentary on the election -- and think Homer brings up some great points. Jay -- are you voting FOR Kerry -- or against Bush -- if it is a Anybody but Bush vote -- I urge people to take a look at Kerry (which is a conundrum in itself) -- i have heard him talk about being a Catholic (think he is the ultimate cafeteria Catholic) -- but also heard him saw that he never lets his faith get in the way of making a decision (and that is faith!?!?!?!?)

To Homer's commentary on Nazi Germany -- I heard this past week that in the mid to late 1930s - Church leaders wen to Hitler with concern over the rising swell of nationalism - and Hitler comments included that the Church should take care of the souls of the people and that Hitler would take care of the soul of Germany

I am fearful for the soul of America if John Kerry is elected.
